- Teachers can help their students succeed by teaching them test-taking and studying strategies. These skills are important for success throughout their academic career and can boost feelings of confidence while lessening anxiety. Ways to help with test preparation are:
- Education games with review quesitons
- Homework that is applicable to the test material
- Giving students time to work in gropus to review and quiz each other
- Provide a list of possible questions
- Teachers can use several grading methods, including an IEP grading system where the goals and criteria from the IEP serve as the basis for the student's grade. Whatever grading technique is used, students must be given a clear understanding of what is expected from them to receive a high grade.
- It is important for teachers to constantly evaluate their inclusive classrooms. By looking at the impact your classroom techniques and methods have on your students' performance, it is clear whether the program is working or not. Teachers should not be wary of getting feedback from students, families, and administrators about their classroom, and should be willing to change methods to better meet the needs of their students.
